Cynthia Alkon, Professor and Director, Criminal Law

Justice, and Policy Program, Texas A&M School of Law

Recently returned from training law professors in

Armenia, Prof. Alkon lived and worked in Belarus,

Albania, and Poland, supervising projects in over

twenty countries in Eastern Europe, the Caucacus, and

Central Asia. She will share knowledge of cross-cultural

legal services gained during her many years of rule of

law work internationally.

Matthew Jendian, Ph.D., Professor and Director, The

Humanics Program in Philanthropic and Communitybased

Leadership, CSU Fresno

Dr. Jendian, recipient of Fresno State’s President’s

Award of Excellence, is the founding director of The

Humanics Program and teaches courses on race and

ethnicity, social class and inequality. He is the Author

of two books: “Becoming American, Remaining Ethnic”

and “#Think: Critical Thinking About Social Problems.”

Dr. Jendian will discuss the topic of cultural humility.
