  • Domestic violence is abuse perpetrated against a current or former spouse or former spouse, current or former cohabitant, a current or former girlfriend/boyfriend, a child, the other parent of a child, or family member to the second degree. It includes intentionally or recklessly causing/attempting to cause bodily injury, sexual assault, or placing a person in reasonable fear of imminent serious bodily injury. It also includes behaviors that disturb the peace of the other party. (Fam. Code sections 6211, 6203)

  • Family law staff will screen for CCLS services and provide appropriate referrals to community partners. Additionally, they assist with case management from intake to trial, which may include, advice, representation, and/or drafting requests for domestic violence restraining orders, child custody, dissolution of marriage, spousal support, child support, special immigrant juvenile status, or other family law matters.
